The treatments include Acne Scar Lasers, Subcision, TCA CROSS technique, Acne Scar Fillers, and Microneedle Radiofrequency that can be combined to treat different acne scars.

Here are some examples of combination Acne Scar treatments, based on the types of scars.

1. Ice Pick Scars

Treatments:

  1. TCA CROSS technique

TCA CROSS is the chemical reconstruction of skin scars (CROSS) using ultra high concentration of trichloroacetic acid (TCA). It  involves depositing small amounts of TCA at high concentration (70–100%) onto the surface of the scar. This causes a local inflammatory reaction leading to the formation of new collagen fibres. The aim is to improve the appearance of the scar by increasing collagen, filling the scar up and reducing shadows cast over scar depressions.

  1. Punch Excision

In this procedure, a small cutting tool is used to pierce the top layer of the skin, in which the target scar is physically extracted from the skin. It is normally done under local anesthesia for utmost comfort.

  1. Advanced eCO2 Fractional Laser

The Advanced eCO2 Fractional Laser is the premier fractional ablative laser that best treats uneven skin texture, depressed acne scars, aged skin, fine lines and wrinkles. It works by breaking down scar tissue and stimulating the skin/collagen underneath to regenerate. The energy heats up the dermis layer and stimulate our body’s natural repair process to rebuild lost collagen in the skin. Concurrently, fractional technology leaves the healthy tissues intact between the laser beams to accelerate tissue healing.

2. Box Scars & Rolling Scars

Treatments:

  1. Subscision

Scar tissue is manually released by using a needle to loosen the scar tissue beneath the skin. It is a manual method that requires good technique to yield good results.

  1. MicroNeedle Radiofrequency

Gold-plated ultra-fine needles first smoothly penetrate the deep acne scars before emitting powerful Radiofrequency energy deep into the skin layers to break up the scar tissue and stimulate collagen.

  1. Acne Scar Fillers

For certain deep scars, Acne Scar Fillers is a quick way to fill up depressed scars to smoothen out the skin surface.  Results are immediate but typically lasts between 9 – 12 months.

  1. The Venus Viva Radiofrequency (RF)

Utilises its Nanotechnology to effectively treat different scars with MINIMAL downtime as compared to the CO2 or Erbium laser treatment. Multiple columns of RF energy are emitted into the scars to break the scar tissue up AND stimulate new collagen. This effectively evens out the scars and improves the texture of the scarred areas.

3. Pigmented Scars

Pigmented Scars

Treatments:

  1. Q-Switch Laser

Photo-enhancer based laser treatment that targets the pigmented aspect of scars.   The laser passes through the skin and shatters the pigmentation into smaller fragments so that it can be more easily removed by the body.  When this happens, the lightening effects will be seen.

  1. Thulium BB Laser

The laser’s wavelength penetrates to a level between the lower part of the epidermis and dermis where it is able to target dark spots while renewing damaged skin and stimulating collagen production.

The wavelength penetrates the upper dermis while not causing the upper layer to peel.

This effectively lightens pigmented scars whilst also smoothening the skin surface.

 4. Hypertrophic Scars/Keloid

Keloids

Treatments:

  1. Injectable steroids

Usually consist of corticosteroid solution which is directly administered into a hypertrophic scar or keloid. The injectable steroid break the bonds between collagen fibers, which reduces the amount of scar tissue beneath the skin. Steroids also have powerful anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce swelling, redness, itching, or tenderness.

  1. Advanced eCO2 Fractional Laser

The Advanced eCO2 Fractional Laser softens and help to flatten the Hypertrophic Scars and Keloids more effectively.  Treatment is done once a month.

Sticking to the plan

Apart from the treatments, it is also important to stick to the treatment plan and be patient. Results won’t happen overnight. Every round of treatment will bring results and improvement, bringing you closer to achieving clear skin again.
